The archaeological and historical heritage of Halbe Rajamaha Viharaya
This temple is situated in Kurunagala district.we can meet this “Halbe rajamaha Viharaya” in Kurunagala-Puththalama road there are a gravel road go 4 miles to Kanukatiya junction. This “Halbe” village is in the Wanni Hathpaththuwe ” Magul gama” canton. When come to this temple you should pass through “Malpanawa” and “Abukkagama” villages. This temple is in the east side of the village.
According to historical details about this “Halbe rajamaha Viharaya” this temple was belonging to period of Polonnaruwa. We can prove it the ruins and the “Tam lipiya” is in here. This “Tam Lipiya” was belonging to c:e 10 century and the “Tampita Viharaya” was belonging to period of Kandy. In that manner this temple show many period.In history the king ”Walagamba” use this area for organized their army.
No one research the archaeological this “Halbe rajamaha Viharaya”, but we can get the idea about this temple because of the ruins around it. The oldest building was the caion. In today it is reconstructed but there ruins all around the caion. There are four tombs inside of the caion. One of the tomb there a symbol of the sacred foot. One of the temple there are a “Hiti Pilimaya” there fetters made by stone lotus flower. The bricks use for caion belonging to 4 century.
The other special thing of this temple is the Tampita viharaya“. There are 16 stone towers according to four towers was built in step by three lines and two towers by in two lines. The storey was made by wood. In side of the temple there “Hidi Pilimaya” and another idol was in here. Inside of the joss house there are painting. Meanwhile of that painting there is “Jathaka Katha” and “Budu Seritha” painted here. But these stone towers which use for “Tampita Viharaya” was bring another building .Those stone towers are older than “Tampita Viharaya”. This Tampita viharaya“ was built in period of Kandy. Use old stone tower for made this temple. According to ruins scattered here, there a moonstone, shrine room and “Uposathagaraya”.
There are a “Tam lipiya” including this “Tampita Viharaya”.That tower is in the north side of the temple. The letter said ,in that time there are three officer who gave the privilege for this temple. and also this “Tam lipiya” also named “Serisagabo Mapurmuka”. Identify this named iV king “Kasep” . In that manner this “Halbe rajamaha Viharaya” was belong to period of Polonnaruwa. This temple was destroyed because of the Portuguese, Dutch and other foreign attack. after-ward this area was grasp those people. So that reason this “Rajamaha viharaya” was destroyed. Later this area become willd.
In Kurunagala district this “Halbe rajamaha Viharaya” is the best place for archaeologist and historian.

To create an account, you must enter your name (First Name & Last Name), e-mail address and select a password or install the Facebook or Twitter or Google Application and grant Glorious Bygone access to your details, as described in the installation form. Your email address is your Glorious Bygone identity. Your username cannot be indecent, or otherwise offensive, or be used in any way that violates the Terms and common practices. You may not provide false information during the registration process. You must provide truthful and accurate information while creating your Glorious Bygone account.
You should not reveal your password to other users. Glorious Bygone will not ask you to reveal your password. If you forget your password, you can request to have a new password sent to your registered e-mail address. Your account is at risk if you let someone use it inappropriately and your account is subject to termination if you or anyone using your account violates Glorious Bygone Terms. If your account is terminated, you may not join Glorious Bygone again without its express permission.
You agree to immediately notify Glorious Bygone of any unauthorized use of your Glorious Bygone account or password. You are fully and solely responsible for the security of your computer system and all activity on your account, even if such activities were not committed by you. Glorious Bygone will not be liable for any losses or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account or password, and you agree to indemnify and hold Glorious Bygone harmless for any improper or illegal use of your account. This includes illegal or improper use by someone to whom you have given permission to use your account.
When you create an account at Glorious Bygone, you will create a User profile, which may contain personal information such as your name, email address and a photograph (a “User Profile”). You grant Glorious Bygone and its successors a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable and transferable license to use, copy, distribute, transmit, modify, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, and publicly perform any such information in your User Profile, including without limitation, for commercially promoting the Site and for advertising purposes. Glorious Bygone may choose to make all such information of your User Profile available to third parties for the purpose of running or developing activities for the Site.
You agree that Glorious Bygone may for any reason, in its sole discretion and without notice, terminate your account, and remove from the Site any Content associated with your account. Grounds for such termination may include (i) extended periods of inactivity, (ii) violation of the letter or spirit of these Terms, (iii) fraudulent, harassing or abusive behavior, or (iv) behavior that is harmful to other users, third parties, or the interests of Glorious Bygone.
If Glorious Bygone believes, in its sole discretion, that a violation of these Terms or any other illegal or inappropriate behavior has occurred, we may take any corrective action we deem appropriate. We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of these Terms or illegal and inappropriate behavior on the Site. We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity of anyone believed to have violated these Terms or to have engaged in illegal behavior on the Site. You may request termination of your Glorious Bygone account at any time and for any reason by sending an email to [email protected]. Any suspension, termination, or cancellation shall not affect your obligations to Rounds under these Terms (including but not limited to ownership, indemnification, and limitation of liability), which by their sense and context are intended to survive such suspension, termination, or cancellation.
Glorious Bygone grants you a limited license to access and use the Site and Services subject to the terms and conditions of these Terms for your personal use only. This license does not allow you to make any commercial use or any derivative use of the Site or the Services (including any of its individual elements or Content (as defined below).
Use of the Services and access to the Site is void where prohibited. Glorious Bygone has no obligation to accept, display, review or maintain any User Content. Glorious Bygone may choose at its sole discretion to monitor User Content for inappropriate or illegal behavior, including through automatic means; provided, however, that Glorious Bygone reserves the right to treat User Content as content stored at the direction of users for which Glorious Bygone will not exercise editorial control except when violations are directly brought to Glorious Bygones’ attention. Glorious Bygone has the right to edit, delete, distort or move User Content from the Site, Platform or Services without notice for any reason at any time. Additionally, Glorious Bygone has the right to refuse to transmit, post or broadcast any User Content without notice for any reason at any time.
You are fully and solely responsible for anything you create, transmit, submit or post, and represent and warrant that such User Content complies with all applicable law and does not infringe third party intellectual property rights.
