                          This temple is belonging to period of the king “Uthtiya” who was the brother of the king “Dewana Patis” and this is situated in Hettipola divisional secretary area in Henegedara village near the mountain range ‘Rathmulu Kanda’. When arrive this temple we should go Kurunagala-Halawatha road turn in Kotabhapitiya junction then go 2 miles in Keulpitiya junction and go 1 ½ miles.   

                        When searching the historical details about this temple there are epigraphs in here. There characters are old Brahma characters. And also the many monks are lived in this mountain area. So then ‘Rahathmulu’+ ‘Kanda’ become ‘Rathmulu Kanda’ note by legends. And also there are many crypt temples within cauldron in this area.

 

                        There was an old crypt with cauldron belonging to period of the king “Walagamba” in ‘Rathmulu Kanda Viharaya’. And also there are bodhi tree, new shrine and old fane is in here. This fane was built for the god “Kaballawa” and people are worshiping it in currently. Further there are old pond and large stone crypt. This temple has an old Palmyra-umbrella. It is note the hedge limit of the land which gave to this temple. In present this temple has ‘Dhrama Shalawa’, caion, new temple mansion, ‘Poya Seema Malakaya’, two stairs library, hermitage, old shrine and bodhi tree is in here.  The monks’ generation is belonging to initial period of Kandy and end of it.
