Location Galle District, Southern Province Access 100km form Colombo. Via Galle Road. The park office is situated at Hikkaduwa on Colombo- Galle road near 98 km post. Hikkaduwa National Park is one of the two marine national parks in Sri Lanka. The national park contains a fringing coral reef of high degree of biodiversity. The area was declared a wildlife sanctuary on in 1979, and then in 1988, upgraded to a nature reserve with extended land area. Hikkaduwa Marine National Park covers an area of 101 hectares including a snorkelling and diving zones and also a bathing zone, catering to the diverse needs of both local and foreign adventure seekers. The marine park offers a diverse collection of sea creatures as well as beautiful fringing reefs of various corals
